The SPRING BIRDING FESTIVAL
took place on Saturday, May 13th, 2006. Although the day was rainy and
started out a bit cold, the event was a success. We had over 60 people
participate in the bus tours of Crex Meadows, and a total of 86 species of
birds were reported. Look below for a complete list. Overall, more than 100 visitors passed
through the Education Center throughout the day. Bruce Bacon was on
hand most of the day banding birds and we were treated to close up views
of many birds such as Blue Jay, Swamp Sparrow, and Yellow Warbler. A
few brave souls ventured out on canoe/kayak tours, and wonderful and
informative programs were put on by Chris Cold and Jim Williams.
Thank You to all who participated, especially the volunteers and staff.
Without your hard work, this event could not have been possible. |
