Early Childhood

Introducing young children to the wonders of nature.

A Crex educator reads a story about wildlife and does an activity with young children the fourth Wednesday of every month at the Grantsburg Public Library during the school year, September - May.

During the summer, Preschool (ages 2-5) and Primary School (through kids going into First Grade next fall) and their parents are invited to Nature's Little Explorers.  They will learn about bees, food chains, owls, habitats, and more through hands-on discoveries and hikes.  This upcoming year, 2012, the Nature's Little Explorers program will begin in June 12 and run every Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:30am through August 14.  There is a fee of $2 per child per session, or a one-time fee of $10 per child which covers the entire 10 week program.  Call Heidi Rusch for more information and to reserve space for your children.  Older siblings are welcome to participate.  Parents and caregivers, please plan to stay with your children for the program.

This self-guided pack will lead you, your friends and family on a hands-on discovery of the amazing wildlife, plants, water, geological features, and cultural history of Crex Meadows Wildlife Area!
